The Chromatic Scale
— Starting on the lowest sounding note, play up each string in turn. Then reverse and play back down each string in turn (from highest- sounding to lowest sound on each string). Note the open strings.
— The numbers in the dots indicate which left-hand finger to use.
— The chromatic scale uses all possible notes.
— Memorize this pattern as quickly as possible.
— To initially learn this pattern, ignore right hand fingerings. Use just one right-hand finger to play each note.
— Then, as an ongoing practice, play the pattern using I&M alternation.
— Practice starting with both I and M, alternately.
— Keep your fingers low to the fretboard and your hand position consistent.
