Fernando Sor’s Etude in B minor is one of the great intermediate guitar pieces. It’s haunting melody, creative chords and hypnotic picking patterns make it a joy to play and hear.

This piece is best for upper beginning and intermediate players. The piece uses bar chords and some upper positions.

It’s a lovely study using a steady right hand pattern with chords in the left hand. Some challenges include:
  • connecting chords smoothly
  • clean shifts
  • clear bar chords
  • bringing out the melody
  • and some others.
