An ecossaise is a country line dance, where lines of couples face each other. When you play this tune, you must insist all listeners do the same, or it doesn’t count.

Mauro Giuliani(1781–1829)is one of the biggest names in classical guitar history. He was friends with Beethoven and other top composers of circa 1800 Vienna, and even played cello at the first public performance of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.

He was one of the first guitarists to compose in the classical style of the day, and was one of the very first to bring real legitimacy to the guitar in the classical music circles.

Giuliani became fairly well-known and popular in his day, but he’s gained much more success after his short life (he died at only 48 years old). However, he was enormously successful at having illegitimate daughters. He had four!
